Honorary Awards

Prix honorifiques

The nomination deadline for Honorary Awards is February 1, 2024.

Nominations for Honorary Awards may be submitted to National Council by any Member or Centre of the College. Nominations, accompanied by supporting material with specific and relevant detail, should be submitted to the Chair of the Honorary Awards Committee by February 1st of any year. The Committee shall, through its Chair, submit its recommendations to the President for approval by National Council. When approved, the President will communicate with successful nominees, inviting acceptance of the award. No nominee will be informed about a contemplated or actual nomination until the official communication is issued by the President. Address correspondence to Chair of the Standing Committee for Honorary Awards, RCCO by mail or email (info[at]rcco.ca) to the National Office.

FRCCO (honoris causa)

National Council may award the Diploma of Fellowship (honoris causa). This may be awarded to those who: (i) have achieved national or international eminence in the field of music; or (ii) have rendered outstanding service to the College. Each recipient of this honour shall receive a Diploma and Hood from the College and be entitled to use the designation ‘FRCCO (hon. causa)’. Click here for a list of recipients.

Distinguished Service Award

National Council may award the Distinguished Service Award to those who have given exemplary service to a Centre. The award should reflect the sort of service that leaves a particular mark on the Centre's history and which, for its vision and breadth, provides a model worth imitating to Centres nationwide. Honorary Life Membership

Honorary Life Membership may be conferred by the National Council upon any Member who has made an outstanding contribution to the work and objectives of the College at the National level over a period of years, or upon any person who, not being a member of the College, has rendered the College significant and unusual service. Such Honorary Members shall not be required to join any Centre, though they may do so; all fee requirements shall be withdrawn.  Click here to see those who have been recognized in this way.

Award of Excellence

National Council may confer the Award of Excellence on an individual, group, or organization (e.g., entrepreneur, ensemble, organ company) for significant contribution to the promotion and value of the organ and its music in Canada.  First awarded in 2016, the list of recipients is here.

Honorary Patron, Honorary President, Honorary Vice President

National Council, upon recommendation of the President, may confer the title of Honorary Patron, Honorary President, or Honorary Vice President on those whom it deems worthy of the honour.  Click here for a list of those who have held these positions.

Centre Life Members

A local Centre may confer Life Membership on a member of that Centre who has given faithful service to the Centre for many years. The Centre fee shall be withdrawn and the National fee shall be paid by the Centre. This award does not need to be approved by National Council.

La nomination pour les prix honorifiques peut être soumise au conseil national par n'importe quel membre ou centre du collège. Les nominations, ainsi que des pièces justificatives contenant des détails spécifiques et pertinents, devront être soumises au président du comité des prix honorifiques avant le 1er février de chaque année. Le comité, par le biais de son président, soumettra ses recommandations au président du CRCO pour accord du conseil national. Une fois approuvés, le président entrera en contact avec les nominés, les invitant à accepter le prix. Aucun nominé ne sera informé de sa nomination possible ou réelle avant que le président ne communique officiellement avec eux. FRCCO (honoris causa)

Le conseil national pourra attribuer le titre de Fellow (honoris causa). Il pourra être attribué à ceux qui: (i) auront atteint une reconnaissance nationale ou internationale dans le domaine de la musique d’orgue; ou (ii) ont rendu des services exceptionnels au collège. Chaque récipiendaire de cette distinction recevra un diplôme et une toque du collège et sera autorisé à faire usage de la désignation 'FRCCO (hon. caus)'. Prix pour services distingués

Le conseil national pourra attribuer le prix pour services distingués à ceux ayant rendus des services exemplaires à un centre. Le prix devra refléter les services qui auront eu une influence marquante sur l'histoire du centre et qui, par leur largeur de vue, sont dignes d'être imités par tous les centres du pays. Membre honoraire à vie

Le conseil national pourra désigner membre honoraire à vie par tout membre qui aura apporté une contribution exceptionnelle au travail et aux objectifs du conseil au niveau national pour un certain nombre d'années, ou toute personne qui, sans être membre du collège, aura rendus des services importants et inhabituels au collège. Les membres honoraires ne sont pas tenus de rejoindre un centre, même s'ils peuvent le faire; ils seront exemptés de toute cotisation. Cliquez ici pour une liste de nos membres honoraires.

Prix d'excellence

Le conseil national pourra attribuer le prix d'excellence à un individu, un groupe ou une organisation (par ex. entrepreneur, ensemble, manufacture d'orgue) pour une contribution significative à la promotion et à la valorisation de l'orgue et de la musique d'orgue au Canada. Parton d'honneur, président d'honneur, vice-président d'honneur

Le conseil national, sur recommandation de son président, pourra conférer les titres de parton d'honneur, président d'honneur ou vice-président d'honneur à ceux qu'il juge digne de cet honneur. Cliquez ici pour une liste de ceux qui ont occupé ces positions.

Membre à vie d'un centre

Un centre local peut désigner membre à vie un de ses membres qui aura rendu de loyaux services au centre durant de nombreuses années. Il sera exempté de la cotisation locale et la cotisation nationale sera payée par le centre. Ce prix ne doit pas faire l'objet d'une validation par le conseil national.
