Knox, Georgetown is a small-town church seeking a Director of Music who would be responsible for providing music for Sunday morning services. Knox is a small-town congregation which is very active within the community.
Requirements of the Position.
The Director will:
- Lead a small enthusiastic SATB choir in a weekly Thursday evening rehearsal (7:00-8:00 p.m.), Sunday morning pre-service warm-up at 10:30 a.m. and Service following at 11:00 a.m.
- Play the 2 manual Keates pipe organ and the Heintzman grand piano as required. (Both instruments are well-maintained at this time.)
- Be responsible for music for Special services like Christmas, Easter etc.
- Ensure music is provided for weddings and funerals (if services are required, compensation is arranged and paid separately).
- Oversee the music library.
- Coordinate with congregational Choir representative and Finance & Maintenance Committee members to ensure that the church instruments are well-maintained.
Qualifications Required
- Ability to lead a small group of choristers.
- Proficiency in playing a pipe organ.
- Ability to play the piano when required.
Compensation
- Commensurate with the RCCO scale, based on an estimated 6-8 hours/week, including rehearsals, Sunday worship, music selection, focused practice time
o Paid monthly
- Includes 5 paid vacation/professional development Sundays per year
- Professional development support can be negotiated
