Organist
Saints Joachim & Ann Catholic Church, 2827 273 Street, Aldergrove, BC
Saints Joachim & Ann Church is a small suburban parish, with over 200 registered families. There is an 11 rank Casavant Frères Organ (1954) in the choir gallery and a 5 rank chamber organ (1879) near the sanctuary. This role includes accompanying the choir which sings antiphons and psalmody, Gregorian chant and metered hymns as well as preparing appropriate musical selections for preludes, interludes, and postludes for the 10 AM Sunday Mass and at major feast days of the liturgical year. The position requires a commitment of approximately six hours per week, beginning May 4, 2025. The organist would work closely with the choir director and under the direction and supervision the parish priest.
Musical and Liturgical Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency on the organ
- Experience in choral direction an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of Catholic liturgy an asset or a willingness to be trained in Catholic church music
Compensation
Compensation is negotiable and will be based on experience and studies in line with the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) Salary of Recommended Salaries (The Royal Canadian College of Organists - Table of Recommended Salaries (rcco.ca).
