Chapel Organist

(Permanent part-time position commencing August 24, 2026)


Reporting to the Chaplain, the Chapel Organist plays an important role in the spiritual and musical life of the School. The role supports daily chapel services and contributes to a reflective, inclusive, and values-aligned worship experience through musical leadership and student engagement. This individual will be filling a vacancy starting in August 2026.

This is a permanent part-time position, typically averaging approximately 15–20 hours per week across the academic year, with some seasonal variation depending on the school calendar, services, rehearsals, and special events.

Working in collaboration with the Chaplain, the Organist prepares and performs music for regular weekday chapel services, as well as occasional Sunday services and special observances aligned with the Anglican tradition and the School’s calendar. The role also leads the School’s chapel-based ensembles, including the Chapel Choir and handbell groups, fostering student participation, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Key Responsibilities
● Provide organ music for regular weekday chapel services (typically five mornings per week), as well as occasional Sunday services, major Anglican holy days, and key School events
● Collaborate with the Chaplain to plan music aligned with the liturgical calendar, Anglican traditions, and the School’s values
● Lead and rehearse the Chapel Choir and handbell ensembles, supporting student participation in chapel services and events
● Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive chapel environment that reflects the School’s commitment to belonging and community

Qualifications
● Demonstrated proficiency as an organist
● Familiarity with Anglican liturgical traditions and repertoire preferred
● Experience working with youth ensembles (choir and/or handbells)
● Strong collaborative and organizational skills

The hourly rate for this position is $37–$54 per hour. Placement within the range will reflect the successful candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
