The RCCO is very pleased to announce that M. Jocelyn Lafond is the 2019 winner of the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation Prize.

M. Lafond is organiste titulaire of Cathédrale de Saint-Hyacinthe-le-Confesseur in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, and is currently pursuing the doctoral program in organ at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University.

Jurors commented on his 40-minute recorded performance as organic, controlled with musicality, and demonstrating understanding of style features, especially ornamentation and articulation.

We thank members of the jury:
Mr. Thomas Annand, Organist and Choir Director, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Ottawa, ON
Prof. Ken Cowan, Professor of Organ, Rice University Shepherd School of Music, Houston, TX
Dr. Marnie Giesbrecht, Professor Emerita of Organ & University Organist, University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB
Dr. Gillian MacKay, Professor & Director of the Wind Ensemble, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON
Prof. Emeritus David Palmer, University of Windsor, Windsor, ON

The RCCO wishes to express its deep gratitude to the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation for its very generous support of young organists through this prestigious prize.
